Some clean install questions

I'm currently running XP Home on a 60GB C: drive (NTFS), with a bunch of
apps and data files in the same partition. I want to install XP in a
small partition on a newly-installed 160GB SATA drive (NTFS), and place
other files in separate partitions on the new drive and on the 60GB
drive. Assuming this will require a clean install: Can I format a 9 GB
partition on the SATA drive for XP; or if install does it, how do I
limit the space used? Should I connect the SATA drive by itself during
install? (I'll set BIOS appropriately) How can I use the Files and
Settings Transfer Wizard in this process? Do I re-activate XP during
the install? (There is no such option in my current System Tools menu.)
Do I need to wipe XP from the 60GB drive after a safe install? Is there
a simpler safer way to accomplish my goal?
