Xp Pro crashed on my girlfriend, All the text that you
would type would become ascii trash or windings. I got
help through kellies corner and it turned out to be a
corrupt registry. I followed the steps and got loaded
but she had system restore turned off so I couldnt go
back to a previous registry. So I backed up and now I
reformated the drive using xp pro cd and when it installs
it says cannont copy file to source, it might be a bad
cd. The cd I used had a few scratches but I use 3-4
different cd's over and over and have tried using NTFS
and FAT32 and it does the same thing.

Can anyone give me some pointers.

..

So you backed up the data from the xp os,the data that had/has a bad registry,
what purpose would that data do for you except recorrupt xp.Also, system restore
wont fix a damaged registry,so now what files are on this cd,windows xp?
Backup files,from what,a corrupted xp os,if its a microsoft xp cd,get a new one
from them,anything else,pitch.

What No? I backed up like 10 image files, I reformatted
the drive using a windows xp cd. and when It installs
windows xp it says some files couldnt be copied.
