Xp wont see hard drive size past 130 gig

Last week spybot searched and destroyed the \windows\system\config32 reg file
and the install cd couldnt repair the registry so I took the master out and
put in a new 160 gig drive that my original hologram xp install disk would
only see as 127 gigs. After I was able to install a few updates and transfer
some files from the old drive into the sata drive I reformated the old drive
( 80 gigs ) and set it as master again then put the 160 gig drive back in but
even after downloading all updates from microsoft and reformating the 160 gig
drive xp still see's the size as 127 gigs.

I know that this was an issue with older versions of xp but it was supposed
to be fixed with sp2 wich I have downloaded but its not fixed and I havent
found any documentation on this issue searching through the knowledge base so
far.

Ok, under list disk it shows it as 149 gig with 21gig free, under list volume
it shows 128 gig so go figure, but no additional partitions if Im seeing it
correctly.

Fixed it with help from a manufacturer utility that western digital makes.
The utility is called Data life guard and it recognized that the fix in
service pack 2 that addresses xp not seeing drive size over 130 gigs was not
enable and it enabled the feature.

What \windows\system\config32 reg file. No such thing in XP. Maybe you
mean \windows\system32\config and some of the files in that folder?

Here is the standard fix for problems with the registry which prevent XP
from booting.

How to Recover from a Corrupted Registry that Prevents Windows XP from
Starting:
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=307545

If there are restore points in the System Volume information folder, a
backup of the registry can be restored from one of those restore points by
booting from a Bart PE disk.

To use a drive greater than 137GB you need two things. A BIOS that supports
48bit LBA, and at least SP1. If XP was installed without SP1 or 2, then all
that will be seen is less than 137GB, with the remainder as unallocated
space. After SP1 or SP2 is installed you can then partition/use that
additional space.
