PROBLEM:
I have 2 computers on the same network. I could access all websites
except google and anything related to it. I even have my gmail going
through outlook and I couldn't retrieve my mail. Both computers were
being affected at the same time. There were a few other random websites
that I couldn't access, aswell.

SOLUTION:
I tried programs such as Windows Defender, AdAware, SpyBot, HijackThis.
None seemed to work when it came to remedy my problem (although they
did help with other things). The last thing I tried was resetting the
router. I unplugged the cable modem and the wireless router then
plugged them in after a couple of seconds. It seemed to do the trick, I
can now access Google and all other sites related to it.
It was a strange issue, considering that I wasn't aware that my
router could have been affected by hijack software.

Good Luck All!

Power cycling your router is a standard maintenance procedure that
should be done every now and then.

A router cannot be affected by malware inasmuch as it does not contain
an operating system.

False, for several reasons.

Sounds like Yahoo has started taking the offensive with their jamming
technology! (joke)

I am experiencing exactly the same problem with Google and nothing seems to
work -- with the firewall on or off.. I tried to implement the unplug
solution offered in the initial e-mail (unplugging the cable modem and the
[cable] router then plugging them in after a couple of seconds) -- no
success. Could you suggest any other solution? -- Thanks!

do nothing: wait for Comcast to solve the problem.

Totally a Comcast problem. Nobody do anything except calling them and
complain.

Don't top post! Also, unplug it, leave it for 30 seconds to let the
memory drain, so it can reset itself when you plug it back again.
After thirty seconds. Did I mention thirty seconds? Oh yeah, I did.

Have you tried clearing out your cache ?
Happened to me once before. Clearing out the cache seemed to have
worked for me. But as it only happened once, I cannot say for sure it
will work in your case.

It's a Comcast issue.
