SO(uth) of HO(uston Street, in New York City)

Or, Small Office/Home Office.

To put this into some perspective:

1. Soho is a part of London. It used to be farmland, and the name is not an
acronym, buit came from an old hunting cry, "So-Ho."

2.The name "SoHo," the South of Houston district of New York City is a play
on the London name "Soho."

2. "SoHo," standing for Small Office/Home Office is the most recent usage,
an acronym playing on the names of both the London and New York districts.

"Internal capitalitis" is like fingernails on a blackboard to me. I
see it all the time in people who write "MicroSoft".

In your meaning (2), "SOHO" could make sense, or maybe "soho" or
"Soho", but not "SoHo". There's no reason to capitalize the
adjectives but not the nouns.

Take a look at http://www.sohosb.com/. You'd probably hate the the way they
do it there even more.
