Software won't install

I've been having problems with my PC when installing any kind of software. I
have a 2nd internal hardrive on my PC and the computer seemed to have
problems so I disabled the 2nd hardrive 9in windows) and the PC worked fine.
I replaced the 2nd hardrive and everything seemed to be working fine I could
install software without a hitch. Then tonight I tried installing a game and
error messages came up when trying to install and I tried another game and
that also wouldn't install (same thing as happening before). I'm sure if I
disable this drive the PC will work fine.
Does anyone have any ideas about this problem?

The error messages came from the software. So different error message for
each different game.

Command & conquer tiberium wars was "error 1335. The cabinet file
'_Retai~1.cab' required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used.
This could indicate a network error, an error reading from CD-rom, or problem
with this package." I tried pressing ignore and got "Error 2350.FDI server
error". For F.E.A.R it suggested it wouldn't install because something else
was even though I know nothin else is. The PC is often virus checked so I'm
sure it isn't a virus.

I've got 2 DVD drives and I've tried both and have the same error messages. I
was able to play a music CD fine.
