Software Removal @ the Add Remove Programs

I have recently downloaded new XP drivers for HP 8200e
external drive. I removed all previous drivers and
software as directed. However when I got to the removal
of "dIRECT cd rEADER UNINSTALLER" for Adaptec CD Reader it
began to uninstall, then gave the message "Error code
0x00000002;"an attempt to remove one or more files failed".

I tried to remove it in Safe Mode to no avail.

Does anyone have any idea as to how to get rid of it.

PS the folder is empty so, but I am also unable to remove
it when I go to the D drive and atempt to do so.
