software has not passed the windows logon test

while instaling conexent modem in hp laptop i got an error
"the software which you are installing has not passed the
windows logon testing" continue any way
after pressing continue any way the modem is reinstalled
but the modem is not working

Sometimes xp makes a mistake with that,locate or install
the software to a new folder,to desktop,go to run,type:
SigVerif,in the new window.advanced,scroll to .dll or
exe,then have it scan the software thru the utility.
You can also open internet options,L.click the icon,
properties,fix the connection.Try device mgr also,R.
click the device,properties,see what info is available.
