We are running software from an executable on the server. One workstation
does not have a problem, but the other workstations freezes when running a
query in the software program. The server and the other workstation have
no problem at all with software. The software manufacturer checked into the
problem and believes it is something in our network. I believe it is
something on the workstation. Could bad RAM cause problems like this?
Also, sometimes get errors when trying to save a file to the server.
Perhaps it is the LAN port on the motherboard.

Any ideas?

Thank you for your help in advance!!!

Definitely, look at the network connection properties. Remove any protocols not needed. Click on the Configure button next to the adapter description, then the Advanced tab. Check the value of the Speed and Duplex setting - in most cases you will get better performance setting that to a specific setting instead of Auto (most common 100 Mb Full Duplex, but depends on the network). There are some other minor settings that might help, but you might want to post back with more information about the Network adapter.

I see you mentioned "the LAN port on the motherboard". If this really is an on-board NIC, you might want to just buy a PCI network adapter card and plug it in, since those are fairly inexpensive and might save a lot of time in problem determination.
