Is there anyway I can soften the edges of a photo so that it appears to blend
with the background instead of appearing to being inserted over the background

Hi Tom,

I know exactly what you mean, and unfortunately, no. You have to do it in
some graphics program.

Please tell us your PowerPoint version,
whether you are using vba,
whether your dog has fleas, or
anything else relevant.

Andy,

Good idea!

Thanks Glen,

Thinking about this some more, you might be able to get away with using
just one rectangle over the image and using the center gradient fill.
Kinda depends how soft you want your edges.

Cheers
Andy

I played with that yesterday, and it didn't look pretty on the photo I was
working with. The problem is that there's really no control over how far the
center of the center fill extends. Plus, it's really kind of a square-ish
fill. It just doesn't look very good.

How about creating an 800x600 image in PhotoShop and cutting the centre
out to suit and soft edging it, save as a PNG to keep the transparency,
sticking it on the master, stick your pictures on the slide and send to
back. Viola! soft edge masking, caveat, all pictures have to be the same
size....

For version 2002 and above.

- Just in case the user was pounding their head looking for the
transparency control. :-)
