Hi All,

Are AM2 socket motherboards backwards compatable with socket 939 CPU's?

There seems to be a lack of 939 motherboards on sale.

cheers

No, they use a different pin config and DDR2 RAM.

:)

If your looking for one theres this at Overclock.co.uk

Thats the board i am using at the mo, they got a couple of others too. :)

AM2 uses the 940 pin CPU, where as Athlon 64 Venice use's 939 pin CPU.

I say take a pair of scissors to the extra pin

LMAO good one, although you may struggle with scissors, try some side cutters instead ;)
