For those of you who choose to bottom-post it would be helpful if you
snipped the irrelevant portion of the post.

Although 'bottom posting' is, apparently, the recommended 'netiquette' I
personally find it frustrating, especially if I am reading a reply to an
original post. In my case I will always top post, netiquette or not. I am
busy enough without having to keep scrolling down to look at a reply.

Evidently there are other newsreaders that automatically bottom post. There
is also OEQuotefix which modifies the OE screen and fixes it in colors by
response and bottom posts.... All considered, I'd rather read from the top
and scroll down to see history. So I get called a 'Top Posting Twit' at
times, I have a thick skin <g>.
* I do not know whether OEQuotefix is compatable with Windows Mail/Vista.
Does work on XP

Either way it would be helpful if the irrelevant portion of the post was
snipped.

Yes I agree, Bob removing any irrelevant portions would be extremely
helpful.

At least I'm not alone in my opinion, Andre:-)

Top posting is the way to go baby!

Such is the age old question...

To top post or bottom post?

I personally hate top posting because it breaks the flow of a logical
conversation. That is, you don't put the answer BEFORE a question do you?
Think of it this way...

To get to the other side!!!

Why did the chicken cross the road?

Doesn't sound very logical does it? In some threads it's especially bad,
where a problem has worked through many steps, and then flow gets broken by
someone top posting, and have to scroll back down to see the progression of
the thread.

That being said I have been doing ng's long enough, and Fidonet before that,
that I just take my poor top posting brethren with a grain of salt, and just
deal with it...:)

I agree whole heartedly. If I need to see what the "thread" is about I can
scroll down. In most cases I just want to read the poster's reply. Much of
the time I just finished reading the original message and don't need to see
it again. I don't remember when top posting became a no-no. It wasn't
always that way.

Same here! I don't have the time or patience to scroll through 50-100
lines of quoted text, only to find a one sentence reply at the bottom.

I'm with you guys on this!
