sndvol32.exe

I have started getting a weird feedback through my speakers.When I tried to
adjust this,it said my sndvol32.exe was missing.I followed the instructions
on the windows help page,and tried to extract it,from my xp disc.But when I
typed in the command i386,it said path could not be found.Do I need to
uninstall windows and reinstall?I also noticed my calculator is missing?Any
help would be greatly appreciated.Thank You in advance. Jeff

In dos I put in C:,then on the windows help page it says to type in i386,when
I do this it says path not found?So when I try to retrieve the sndvol32.exe
from my xp disc,it doesnt work.So in dos,I typed in c:,then on the help page

Try the following:
Put your CD of XP in the unit. The Start>Execute and type "cmd" without quotes. In the new screen, write (always without quotes) "X:" where X is your CD unit. Hit enter and the write "cd i386" enter.
Then write: "expand sndvol32.ex_ c:\windows\system2\sndvol32.exe"
(if you have XP on C
then type "exit".

Jose,okay I got it to open the i386,but it will not retrieve the
sndvol32.exe!It says the path cannot be found.Help me,lol!Any other

k watev u ppl are talkin bout look i need help ok i want to record a voice
over the computer so i can send it to my parents who live far away exept i
cant because it isnt over in the accessories --> entertainemtn --> sound
recorder its not there and i usto havet he sound icon on my taskbar but not
anymore so i went into sounds in control panel and selected show sound icon
on taskbar i clicekd it then it says windwos cannot find sndvol32.exe it may
be corrupt and some stuff so then i go to add remove progs to install it (it
tells me to ) i go there and it ant there so how am iseposto get sound now???

Replace it from the XP installation CD using the "Expand file" function
of Msconfig. Go to Start | Run. Type in msconfig. Click ok
