Hello!
I lost the icon for the 'sndvol' in the Notification Area, so I did
without it for months because I could not understand the various posts
in this specific venue -(79 year old brain turning to gorgonzola
cheese?)

SO, I did a Search using START / SEARCH / FILE FINDER and there it
was!!! Not knowing how to get it into my Notification Area, I simply
did a SEND TO: Desktop.

Now, instead of clicking on the non-existant sndvol icon in the
Notification Area, I simply click on the icon on my desktop. And it
works!! Anyone having the same problem may do the same IF the file is
not corrupt. Mine wasn't.....so why wouldn't it be in the Notification
Area?

After all my stupidity, I think finally did something right!

There are smarter ways though.

You can also go to Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices Properties.

There you can check [ ] Place volume control on the taskbar.

If you had gone to Windows Help and typed in "Volume Control" then the
second task presented is: "Finding the volume control icon"

Well congratulations, Mikie! I hope to be able to do as much at 79! Very
little Gorgonzola there, from what I can see
..
