Snapshot viewer

I'm working on sending a report with about 10 photos. The snapshop file ends
up being over 20 megs with 10 pics and minimal text, way too much. I've tried
to zip it, but little change. Any suggestions? I could take these photos and
put them in a word doc that would harldy register a blip in terms of size,
but would be time consuming to transfer, so I'm not sure why the snapshot
file is unmanagably large. Access requires .bmp format to be used for the
photos, so I can't really reduce size there.

Hi Charlie,

Pictures won't resize because jpg images (if that is what you are using)
are already compressed. You will need a picture resizing program to resize
the pictures before adding them to your database. Some programs also allow
you to keep the same resolution but decrease quality somewhat to come up with
a smaller file. Picasa (free from Google) has a basic resizing tool. There
are also online picture resizers and free ones from places like download.com:

http://www.picresize.com/ (online)
picasa.google.com (picasa)
http://download.cnet.com/1770-20_4-...Name=platform=Windows&filter=platform=Windows
(other trials/freeware)

Hope that helps!

Hi Charlie,

That "[W]ord doc hardly register a blip in terms of size." is only due
to Word linking to the files, and not embedding them. In which case you
would have to attach the files separately. Access does work with JPEG and
other formats and is not limited to BMP. What version of Access are you
using? I just did a test in Access 2007 of a report that included 8 JPEG
images in the range of ~15 KB to ~25 KB. No problem. The SnapShot file was
about 2 MB.
