Snap-To mysteriously turned on and wont turn off

Anyone had this problem? I saw a couple posts on some
newsgroups on a google search but no answers other than
the standard snap-to box check in mouse configuration.
I've turned mine on and off, even checked the registry
key. Even though all say it is turned off, my pointer
still snaps to buttons.

I hate it!

Did you install vendor-specific drivers/software for your unmentioned brand
and model mouse? When I originally got a Logitech mouse and used their
Mouseware drivers and software, it did not reset the mouse parameters to
their defaults. If acceleration, snap-to, or other settings had been
configured using the standard PS/2 mouse driver, the install of Logitech's
Mouseware did not reset these values and they would get enforced even when
changes were made to the mouse behavior using Logitech's mouse applet. I
had to uninstall Logitech's Mouseware, reboot to get back the standard PS/2
mouse driver, configure it to use default settings (no snap-to, no
acceleration, medium speed, etc.), and then install Logitech's Mouseware.
They fixed that problem about 3 or 4 revisions ago.
