Hello all...I am running windowsxp home edition with sp2..my daughter
downloaded a game and now my puter is either extremely slow or shows 'page
cannot be displayed' I am the administrator to the computer and she is on a
totally different partition than i am.
This is what i've done..i've done disc cleanup
system restore
I've done a adaware scan
looked for the game under in my control
panel and don't see
it is installed
Sooooooo i would appreciate anyone's help in speeding this up and is there a
safe place where my daughter can go to download games.
thank you in advance

Wendy, use all these sites to check for malware. Adaware is great but
will not get every thing. If you looked for the game in Control
Panel>Add/Remove Programs and it wasnt there then look in C:\Program Files.
I use www.fileplanet.com for games.

Wendy, go to Start>Run type: regedit click Ok Navigate to
HKey_Local_Machine\Software look for a folder of
the game and delete it. Also the same at HKey_Current_User\Software.
Then go back to Start>Run type msconfig
click Ok and select Startup. Look for a entry for the game and if
there uncheck it. Restart and you will get a message
saying something about Msconfig blah, blah. In the lower left corner
check the box. That will prevent the message from popping up everytime you
startup. Go back to C:\Program Files and see if you can delete the folder.
Delete any part you can.

Is it just your internet that is running slowly? Or is your whol
computer going snail-speed? I had a similar problem, I did syste
restore and it worked fine.

Also, if the game your daughter installed is not in your add/remov
programs list, then it should be in her account. Try logging onto he
windows account and look for the game there.

There are many safe places to download games, also online games ar
sometimes the best around. It really depends on the genre of game
you want.

Hope this helps, I'm not really an expert but hey ;-)
