Snail-Pace PC

Has anyone else experienced any problems on slow
machines. Just a few days ago suddenly the PC just began
to slow right down. Virus Scan picked up nothing (once i
managed to get it operational) yet I was not quite sure.
After downloading several patches and updates the problem
was still there and I am still experiencing abnormally
slow speeds. Having something as simple as the microsoft
home page open is causing it to, what seems, almost
overload it self. Does any know the problem of this?

have you cleaned windows up? it gets progressivly slower
with use.

Delete all files in temp, temp internet, system32/prefetch,
*.log (global). Search the hard disk by date for *.exe
just in case of virus or the like.

run xteq or other toy and check for programs running in
the background. Virus is possible, also possible is
spyware and junk like realplayer that constantly runs
after you install it.

run regscrub. run spybot or other spyware removal.
defragment. Make sure the pagefile is not fragmented!

The mentioned programs are all free for home use.

If its still slow, could be hardware problems. Use
performance monitor to seek the problem in an advanced way.
