Smartpops error

I'm getting an error from my browser that kills my http
session, closes IE, and reopens it to my home page. The
error makes reference to the me2.dll file. When I send
the error to Microsoft, it points me to Smartpops.com for
resolution. I never put smartpops on my machine until I
saw this. I tried to install and remove Smartpops
application to see if it would solve the problem. It did
not. Does anyone know what else I could do to resolve the
problem?
