Smart Tags - Telephone Number recognizing the contact information

Does anyone know if the phone number smart tag can recognize the contact name
if the phone number exists in the email? I get emails with phone numbers but
no contact information. It would be great if I can see the contact name.

Not with the standard telephone number smart tag, no. It will recognize the
number from your address list but unless you write your own smart tag
recognizer it won't associate the number with the contact information.

I'm not sure if it's possible to do that in a custom smart tag, but the
standard one definitely won't do it.

Do you think it's possible? Where can I find more info on developing Smart
Tag's using Visual Studio .NET - Visual Basic?

Beats me, I've never tried to develop a smart tag and have very little
knowledge about development of them and what's possible with them.

There is information about this at www.outlookcode.com, search there for
"smart tag" to see what's there.
