Smart tag failure

I cannot get smart tags to function even though box ticked in word. I am
running win XP SP2 with office XP current updates. There is no box visible
when i run the cursor over a name and no line underneath text.
i have attempted to repair and reload software but neither makes a difference.

One of the most common reasons for SmartTags not being recognized in a document
is a language conflict. Most of the SmartTags delivered with MS products are
language-specific. Click in a name you think should be recognized, then go to
Tools/Language/Set language.
- which language is marked in the list?
- is "Do not check spelling or grammar" checked?
