Sorry for so basic a question. I haven't used Win 2000
for some time. When I started again two weeks ago, the
start menu was showing full menus. Now it is showing
those idiotic "smart" menus. I know how to change this
option in Office applications but not in Win 2000 and
cannot find the answer in help.

Thanks.

Hi,

Try right clicking a blank area of your Windows taskbar
(generally located along bottom of the screen) and
clicking Properties. Under the General tab click to remove
the check mark next to "Use Personalized Menus", click
Apply and OK to save the changes. This will eliminate
compressed menus where you see only part of the menu with
double arrows, which, when you position your cursor over
them, the menu expands to include all items.

Start --> Settings --> Taskbar & Start Menu

There you will see an option for using Personalized menus.
Uncheck and you will be set.
