Smaller Photos for e-mail

When I click on the Send Pictures via E-mail dialog box,
the e-mail envelope opens automatically. The Make all my
pictures smaller, etc. dialog box does not appear to make
the choice of making the photo "smaller" or "keep
original sizes" selection.

In the e-mail the original photo that was 213 KB is now
159 KB. Smaller, yes, but still large.

Robin Young, author of an article on this technique at
Microsoft, has not been able to resolve why this dialog
box does not appear.

It always makes sense to look through the archives of these newsgroups
to see if anyone else has had the same problem!

To get it back, click on Start, click on Run and type the following in
the box:
REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL
and press Enter
Note that there is a space between ...32 and SHI...

In addition to the excellent info you have
already received, you may find the free
WinXP PowerToy "ImageResizer" to be
useful:

Go to the following link and download and
install: ImageResizer.exe

http://tinyurl.com/36n

Then you can open any folder that contains
images and you will have an option to resize.
Just right click the selected image files and
choose Resize Pictures. You can select one
image or a whole group.

The program will place the resized copies in
the folder with your originals.

My camera takes pictures at 72 dpi and are 22 x 16" on
the automatic setting. When I email by making pictures
smaller it has worked very well for the last 2 years.
However, recently it makes most smaller but not all. I
can't figure out why. Is there a download or setting to
solve this?
