small(?) problem with XP Home

Sean M.

My friend called me and asked me to look into his
computer, but since I'm at work in the other side of town,
I couldn't help him right away.

He says, "Every time I open a window a message says:

'This window is busy...closing it may cause data to be
lost'..."

I've never seen this, but it sounds like too many
resources are running at the same time. I did ask what o/s
he had and he said XP Home(but for a business?). I thought
I would ask a few profesionals their opinion, I may be a
novice, but I won't learn unless I ask.

Thank you for your patience, Sean

Sean, it sounds like you maybe right. Without knowing how much ram he is
using in his system and how large a page file
it could be just a matter of too many windows opened and programs
launched. But he could also be experiencing a trojan,
spyware or virus. Tell him to check out these sites for the bugs
mentioned.

Yesterday afternoon I went to his family's business to
check out this computer, it was one of those WalMart
specials(not knocking wally world), it had 128MB ram, but
needed some serious work, was missing run32.dll(I couldn't
believe it) so I fixed that...then intalled the latest NAV-
03 w/updates and ran a Spybot(S&D)...I also recommended
that he remove all the crap that was slowing the computer
down(lots of shareware)...he did have tons of spyware, 3
trojans, and the RCP problem from earlier this year...

seems that they use that computer(with a DSL connection)
for not only the business...I also installed an activity
monitor and assigned users/passwords...
