Hi all..... I'm looking for a newsreader to go on an older laptop ,p166,
running Win98SE. Something with a small footprint and reasonably fast
loading time. Any suggestions?

Hi Newfdog,

I have just started using XanaNews. Had been using 40tude Dialog for a
couple of years but Xana seems to run faster than 40tude and uses less
system resource.

First impressions of Xana are good. It is also good if u have a multi
user setup on your PC as it creates individual settings in the Local
Settings directory for each user.

HTH.

This is the newsreader I use also. I like it much more than Dialog and
Xnews. It certainly downloads messages faster than Dialog and in some
ways more configureable. I guess it is a personal preference thing
like everything else. Good thing there are so many choices around.

Thanks for all the replies people. I'm presently trying out Xnews and it
seems to fit the bill.

Yep, definitely a preference thing. I tried Xnews and just couldn't get
on with it at all.

Definitely is; whatever works for you is the one to go for.

(FWIW, I started using XNews 6 or 7 years ago and although I've played
with other readers now and then, I've never felt a need to switch.)

The pedantic in me balks at your use of the word "presently" ;-)

Why?

Because 'presently' (at the time he posted) he was using
Thunderbird. - Erm... you did notice the 'just kidding' smilicon
thingy I included, as well as the reference to his user-agent,
didn't you?
