Small game says my Virtual Memory is less than 3MB.

I have this little macromedia game I used to play to pass time when I had
dialup and needed to wait to view webpages. I recently decided to play it
again but it poped up a message that said I needed more than 3MB of free
virtual memory to play the game. I have over 1 gig of available memory
installed would I not have 3MB of virtual memory free? Does the virtual
memory have anything to do with the page file? because Taskman shows plenty
of available MB's there.

If it's an old program, it might not understand larger numbers when it comes
to memory or hard drive space. So it truncates the numbers so it's something
it can understand. So if the program only understands (for example) hard
drive space up to 32GB, and you happen to have if you have 32 gb or less
free, it's happy. But if you have 33Gb, it thinks you only have 1 Gb.

You might try running the program in one of the compatibility modes to see
if it likes that any better.

Virtual Memory is sum of real RAM and space available in the page file.
It may be that there is too much for that program; if Control Panel -
System - Advanced - Performance Settings - Advanced - Virtual Memory
suggests more that 2GB available, try clicking change, select the drive
where it is, reduce *max* page file space to give not over 2GB (indeed
if you have over 1GB RAM as it sounds, I would set initial 100 Max 1000
MB), click Set and see.
