I have a computer that I have noticed that the bootup
process seems to have slowed down considerably. After the
desktop background loads, it now takes 30 seconds or more
for the icons to load. Any ideas on what to check would
be appreciated.

Make sure you run defrag at least once a week

How often one should defrag depends on his usage patterns, but
for *most* people, once a week is overkill.

Thank you Rick; will check that out. I recently had to
replace the harddrive and all seemed fine. A few days ago
I uninstalled some software programs through Control
Panel>Uninstall so it may be related. I did run defrag
after that though...

Thanks again
Richard
