Slow Windows XP Pro SP2, bootup/startup

I'm now even more pissed that I have to retype it...

First let me say that I HAVE NO SPYWARE/VIRUSES/ETC. My computer's
clean, I ran many programs and nothing bad has been found.

Specs:
Asus P5WD2
Pentium D 3.2GHz
2GB DDR2 RAM
Maxtor 300GB 7200RPM
ATI Radeon X800XL

I've had this computer for three months and sometimes I'm okay with the
slowness, but still it pisses me off. I've asked many other sites but
they don't know what's going on. I think it's the SP2 crap. My sister's
laptop has Home SP1 and it's much faster than mine, the login, the
everything (P4 2.66GHz, 5400RPM HD, etc)

Problem: The splash loading screen is pretty fast, a few seconds. But
when I login to my account, I type my password, then it plays that
intro sound, takes at least five seconds to get to the desktop. Then
when it does, the taskbar is blank (start button, quick launch,
systray) for a few seconds then loads. Then the startup starts to come,
but very slow.

I have disabled some services yet it still happens. I only have AIM,
MSN Messenger and Ares at startup. I tried running bootvis before,
didn't do anything, but running it now gives me errors. I only have a
few folders on my desktop. I dedragged my computer lots of times too.
Please don't give me the general things to do...

I have all the latest drivers too. ATI Catalyst, viewsonic monitor
drivers, etc.

I have the same problem with my XPSP2 Nobody seems to be able to pinpoint
the problem. Did you happen to install XP from a slipstreamed SP1 version?
No errors in whatever diagnostic tool (event viewer...)

No, my cd is with SP2.
There are tons of errors in the event viewer...
Can you check to see where the login errors on? I get a lot of DCOM and
Service Control Manger errors. And on the Application tab, I get Most
of them are probably because of the disables services...
My computer is fast after it logs in and settles...but it takes 5
seconds to login. That's my only complaint (and the stuff loading
slowly at startup). msconfig is fine, as I said, only two programs.

I have a similar problem The "progress bars" screen takes forever after
getting the latest updates. I have ATI Catalyst too but I don't think that's
the issue.I tried disabling startup items but that doesn't seem to help.

slow boots in XP are sometimes caused by network trouble. Searching for
computers no longer on the LAN. or DNS IP address problems. try booting with
no network. (unplug the LAN cable if applicable)
