hi there, my problem is that it takes way too long to open folders/shortcuts
which are on my desktop or in the start menu--about 5 seconds from the time i
double click the icon--(programs all open very quickly). Once a window is
open, opening the folders inside it is nice and quick again. i have tried
defragging, virus scan, removing all the spyware i can, as well as using
registry mechanic, but the problem persists. any suggestions much
appreciated! my PC is P4 3GHz with 1.5Gb RAM

Matt,

Is the same kind of delay seen when you right-click a folder or a shorcut?
