Slow, Then No Network Connection after SP4 Update

A W2K Advanced Server has been updated from SP3 to SP4.

Right after the reboot, network and internet connections
became very slow on this particular server. A couple
reboots later, the server even lost the domain and cannot
logon.

Any help/suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

Installing a differenct NIC seems to bring the network
connection back, but both connections are still extremely
slow. Please help.
