Slow startup xp pro

Hi,
As header, Problem is on my daughters pc which is linked with my main pc via
a router.
The main delay is associated with the blue welcome screen, this can hang for
around 1.5 minutes!
I tried "ms bootvis" and it shows long periods during logon+service (init
time 18.29 sec).
Any ideas as to what to look for that saps the time? I think it has to do
with the net access but don't quite know where to look. I did an optimise
through bootvis that does not seem to have helped. Any help appreciated.
tia.

The following steps may help if you think it is network-related.

Control Panel/Internet Connections/LAN or High Speed Internet. Rt. click
"Local Area Connection." Choose Properties. Rt. click "TCP/IP." Choose
properties.

If the radio button for "Obtain an IP address automatically" is already
chosen, choose the alternative option: "Use the following IP address." Then
type in 192.168.0.1. For the subnet address, use 255.255.255.0.
If another IP address is already indicated, leave it alone. Your problem is
somewhere else.
