Slow Startup; New USB 2.0 the cause?

I have recently installed a USB 2.0 PCI to USB port. Yes, it's in correctly
and tightly. My computer is windows XP professional with SP2. The USB 2.0 has
4 ports, and I have a 4 port hub connected to it... Connected to the hub, I
have a memory card reader (2.0 enabled), and my HP Officejet 5510 all-in-one
printer. To one of the other ports at the back of the computer, I have also
plugged in my Nikon Coolpix 4600... Everything I have is 2.0 enabled (I'm
pretty sure atleast)...
When I installed the 2.0 port, I didnt take out the 1.1 becuase it was built
rite into the back of the tower, so I couldnt take it out. Ok, so here's the
first problem... The 2.0 port doesnt seem to bo going fast.... It still takes
about a minute to download approx. 60 mb of pics from my camera. To me, that
doesnt sound like 480 mb/s.....

the second problem is this: When my computer froze up, I restarted it. When
it was coming back on, rite after the black screen where it says something
like "Boot from ATAPI CD ROM", everything on the screen goes black (normal)
but then it stayed black for about 10 seconds, then went to the Windows XP
screen with the blue bar bouncing back and forth.... Then it stayed there
longer than normal. Then it went black again for about 30 seconds, then
finally went to the sign in screen like normal.... This loading time isnt
normal. Atleast not since I've installed the usb port and plugged all my
things into the hub. Could the USB devices be causing this? Should they be
unplugged when I restart my computer?

and lastly; a question... How can I uninstall the 1.1 usb drivers.. I dont
want to be able to sense them on this computer at all... I want all drivers
belonging to them, gone. They confuse me when Im in the device manager.

Thnx in advance.

Adding the PCI USB2 card utilizes another IRQ in your system.
If your new card provides all the ports you need, I would enter
the BIOS Setup go the Peripherals and disable the on-board or
motherboard based USB controller. Not all motherboards will
have that option, but it's worth a look.

You have started six new threads now (since 09/23) for, basically, the same
USB problem. Please stay in the original thread. People will get tired
opening your posts to see the same thing rehashed - yet again, and then they
may stop reading them at all. This is NOT going to help you in the long run
in solving your problem.

I'm not going to try and cause a fight here, but how is posting in a thread
that is about 6-8 pages back, going to help me? No one goes that far back to
answer stuff... Atleast not the majority. And also, There different problems.
Each time I make one, it has some new details. But like I said, Im not trying
to fight here.

Thnx Mcarty, I'll try what you said. If anyone else has any other ideas, or
cna answer about the slow startup, that would be great. thnx.

I tried your idea, and whether it helped speed up the system I dont know. BUt
I went to PhP/PCI support (or something like that) in the System Bios, then I
disabled the "IRQ support for USB" (or something like that) thanks.

keep the ideas coming ofr the other questions

People who are regulars here, and reply to your post, WILL go back to that
post to see if their suggestion worked. We all do it, just as I have done
here. But flooding the board with the same question, over and over again,
will not get you additional assistance. It will only get some people peeved
at you. I am just trying to be helpful here as you appear to be new to this.

I have answered one of your previous posts with a comment. Have you read it?
Is the answered yes or know about your camera?

You indicated the camera (Nikon) is connected to the rear of the PC on its
onboard USB 1.1 port.............
the second problem is this: When my computer froze up, I restarted it.
When

When did it freeze to begin with?
it was coming back on, rite after the black screen where it says something
like "Boot from ATAPI CD ROM", everything on the screen goes black (normal)

Not if the USB is installed properly, along with all the USB devices you
plugged into them.
and lastly; a question... How can I uninstall the 1.1 usb drivers.. I dont

Most PCs have a bios setup option to disable onboard USB. When done this
way, XP won't see the onboard USB. Won't expend resources or otherwise
provide anything for onboard USB. This will not affect the USB 2.0 PCI
card.

I would dump the external hub for now. Just complicates things.
