Hello,

Recently I got an email of one of our project co-workers.
He is complaining that Windows 2000 is taking a lot of
time to shut down and startup... especially shutdown takes
more then 4 minutes. He's working on a Windows NT network,
his collegues dont have the problem. Windows 2000 has
service pack 4 installed.

hope you can give me some hints...

Thanx

try

start > run > gpedit.msc > Computer Configuration> Administrative
Template System > Logon > Maximum retries to unload and update user
profile ... set enabled and to say 5 ... default if not configured is
60!!

Hans,

this might be because of a large roaming profile?

You can check the size of the profile by:
Right Clicking on MY COMPUTER
Then look at the USER PROFILES tab

In there you will see the profiles, the size and if they are roaming
profiles.
If this is the cause of the problem, you can try and minimise the size
of the profile by moving things of the desktop for example and by
storing the My Documents folder on the network also.

Let me know if this is of any help to you.

You might want to check into Robin Caron's free "UPHClean" utility at
