Since I recently installed a new SATA hard drive in my system and it now now
takes three and a half minutes to fully boot, anyone care to suggest why
this may be?

System:
p4 3.2
1 gig ram
Win XP prof (SP2)
1 x 80 gig eide h/drive
1 x 120 gig eide h/drive
1 x 160 SATA h/drive
Ati Radeon 9700 pro

I have approximately 6 applications running on boot up - antivirus/heat
monitoring etc.

For any boot sequence problems, check the System Event log.
Click Start, Run (Type) Eventvwr.msc (Press Enter).
Expand the System Category [+] and double-click each Red
icon, as they denote errors. Note the Event ID # and read the
short description. While "Technical" in nature, the messages can
help lead you to problems/issues with booting the PC.
For more information on specific Event ID's visit the following:

Also a look through the Application log wouldn't be wasted time.
