Slow Shutdown after installation of America Online 9.0 SE

After I upgraded my version of AOL, all of the sudden it
takes 5-10 minutes to close windows. I don't understand
why AOL could be causing the problem, but that is when
the problem started accuring. Has anyone experienced the
same thing, or have any ideas that may help me speed up
this process?

I await the plethora of "Get rid of AOL" and "Sounds like an AOL issue to
me" answers.

In the meantime - what happens when you uninstall the bloated software known
as AOL?
