Slow Shut down on Win XP Home

It takes a minimum of two minuets to shut down XP Home.
The start up is normal. Why, or how can I eliminate this
abnormal "hang" time in shutting down?

system has more to do during shutdown...there was earlier
post on this a few days ago...i can not find...but it
stated there is more to do during shutdown.
