Slow send/receive

C

Craig Pfaff

Hi,

I'm using Outlook 2002 and I have a user who isn't getting their e-mail in a
timely
fashion as everyone else. What we have is Exchange 2003 being used mostly
for
public folders, tasks and what not, then we have a POP3 for external e-mail.
I have the send/receive checking every 5 minutes and the Exchange account is
set to
default, the problem is that even if I click on the send/receive nothing
happens but if
I go to Tools>Send/Receive and then click on the Exchange send/receive the
mail
comes immediately. This is for e-mail internally as well as externally, for
testing I have
the person next to her send her an e-mail and she won't get it for quite
sometime unless
I click on the Exchange send/receive. She does get the email sometimes ten
minutes later.

Thanks in advance for your time,

Craig

Hi Craig,

If the client system is Windows XP SP2, please check the method in the
article below:

The Outlook Find feature and the new mail notifications do not work after
you apply Windows XP Service Pack 2
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=839226

The new mail notification send from Exchange server via udp port will be
blocked by client, so Outlook will not be notified that a new message
arrive and then to retrieve it.

You can specify the accounts that include in "Send/Receive" button, the
Outlook client may not include Exchange mailbox in it. To verify this
setting:

-- Tools/Options/"Mail Setup"/"Send/Receive"
-- In this tab you can configure the Send/Receive group. If you want to
include a account in "Send/Receive" button, then please select its group
and check "Include this group in send/receive (F9)"
-- Set the automatic send/receive time schedule for Exchange mailbox, this
is a workaround for current problem

If the problem still persists and is not relate to Windows XP SP2, please
try to create a new profile on the problematic client.

Hope the information helps.
