Slow searching

I recently switched to Outlook 2003 from Outlook Express. I've noticed that
searching, especially a full text search, is amazing slow on O2003, what I
formerly could do in a few minutes on OE now takes several hours. I keep all
my folders stored on my local machine so there's no network issue. What's the
deal?

There are various tools available for very fast searching. A standalone
tool is Lookout for Outlook
(http://www.lookoutsoft.com/Lookout/download.html), or integrated into
the MSN Desktop Search (http://www.lookoutsoft.com/Lookout/). I have
used it for years and I am very happy with it.

In addition to Pat's recommendation, there is also Google Desktop Search or
Yahoo! Desktop Search, although there have been problems reported with
side-effects in Outlook.

Thanks. I tried it and it is very fast, once it computed it's intial index
which took about 4 hours.
