Slow Response when right-cliking on Desktop

When I right-click any of the items in my Quick Launch
bar, or any of the items on my desktop, it takes 20-25
seconds for the pop-up menu to display. I get the same
delay if I press the delete key to delete something from
my desktop.

I don't get any delays from inside Explorer when I click
on a file or directory, and nothing else seems to be
noticably slowed.

I cleaned up & defragged, my hard disk and also rebooted
both with and without network support, and nothing seems
to fix this.

I'm running SP4, and all my Windows Updates are applied.

Probably third-party software. Hit Ctrl-Alt-Del and post a list
of processes found.

I saw some information on share issues, and have run
regmon to find the problem. When I first right-click,
about 1600 entries pop up. Then it just stops. After
several seconds, more entries are added, and the pop-up
menu displays. I can't find anything significant, though.

I have no network shares setup. I'm connected to servers
on our network, but that's it. I've talked to others at
work, and everyone I've talked to with SP4 is having this
issue. No one with SP3 or lower has noticed this symptom.

I've even tried not logging into the network, and deleting
all references to the network servers in the registry. No
positive results.
