Slow response to typing and commands

I need help. When I am browsing the internet, there is a
delayed response from typing and other commands. I will
click on a window to enter search criteria and it will
take 3 to 5 secs before I can see what I have actually
typed. If I try and scroll down on a window, it will be
delayed also. Plus the page has already loaded when this
happens.

I only have this problem in IE. I am using win98 and have
just downloaded the new update for IE6. Did not help.

Thanks for the help. I followed the instructions in both
these links, but problem still exists. Any other
sugestions. Maybe I should try netscape.
