Slow response / hanging app IE 6

I'm running with the new XP beta. When I type in a new url into IE - after about 5-6 characters, IE hangs. It may sit for up to 2-3 minutes before completing the url I typed in.

If I click on an existing bookmark, no problem. Quick response, it goes right to the webpage. This happens only when entering new URLs.

maybe other programs are conflicting or using power.
didn't know there is an xp beta.
