Slow print performance

My W2k print server is very slow compared to my NT 4.0.
How can i fix this? I had NT installed on the same machine
and the printing worked great now if I print the same
document it takes 10 times longer (feels like 10 times
longer). The print server is an PE2400 PIII 733 with 1GB
ram and W2K-SP3.

any ideas?

I pulled my hair out for months before finding a solution
to my slow printing for both LPR and RAW (port 9100)
printing. Turns out the "Standard TCP/IP Port" is a real
dog. After making the change below, our printing went
from 2MB per minute, to near full network speed of about
300 MB per minute. Huge difference.

If you happen to be using a "Standard TCP/IP Port" then
use Add/Remove Programs, Windows Components and
add "Other Network..." -- the "Print Services for Unix."
Then go to your printer properties, add a port and select
"LPR Port" -- all you'll need are an IP address and a queue
name.

Hope it helps.
