Slow print, Canon S300

I've used a Canon S300 for a year and am unable to speed printing of the
first printed page. It churns over and over for two minutes before printing
the first page. Second and succeeding pages are rapid. If I stop printing
for several minutes and begin again, the same problem, namely, a delay in
printing the first page.

It's making sure that ink is in the jets before print. It use to bother me
too but I got accustomed to it. I maybe wrong, but, unless it just started
doing this, it's doing what my S600 does.
