Slow performance

After installing SP2, my computer is soooo sloooowww. It
takes about a minute and half to open any application.
Does anyone have any advice to offer.

Uh, oh, with that much detail you give, the only reasonable way is to do a
clean install XP (Pro,Home, OEM?), and SP2 - or better yet, XP with SP2
streamed; check google for SP2 streaming or so.
Of course, you can try some detective work; if you have XPPro look in event
files (in Administrative Tools), check msconfig, Windows Task
Manager/Processes, Hijack This etc.
