My computer is extremely slow starting up, loading and
changing prorams etc.

The Packard Bell computer is only a year old.

Any advice, please?

Three items for a slow computer
1. You should have about 512 megabytes of memory
2. Download and run Ad-Aware Personal SE--------www.lavasoft.de
3. Remove unneeded programs in startup. Start---run---type in
msconfig--click OK. Startup tab.

How much RAM does your computer have? It is common to find computers
sold with Windows XP that have only 128 mb of RAM. You need at least
256 mb to get reasonable performance from XP, and very often going to
384 or even 512 mb will provide additional performance gains.

Good luck
