Slow PC

My computer running Windows XP Home, P4, and 512 MB of
RAM is slowing down. It will almost freeze for 10
seconds. CPU usage is at around 50%. System Idle Process
shows up as 74 CPU usage on the task manager. I have
cleared out start up progams and ran housecall and norton.
Please Help

Sonny;
System Idle Process is exactly what it sounds like.
It is the % of processing power you have waiting for something to do,
doing nothing.

If you are having problems, this is not the cause.

I am having the same problem. My computer is S - L - O -
W.

It takes over 2 minutes to finish booting.
It takes 15 - 30 seconds to load and run a program.
It took 20 seconds for this "Post a New Message" window
to open.
