Slow Outlook 2003

My question relating to Outlook 2003's slowness does not seem to have been
posted. So, am repeating it now. I run Windows XP, Office 2003 (Outlook
2003) on a Dell 2400 Dimension pc. I, too have begun seeing that Outlook is
very slow in downloading, opening, moving between messages and deleting
unwanted messages. I have run the detect & repair, gone into Spybot and
reduced the restricted sites, changed from HTML to Plain text, defragged,
Scanned with McAfee and run scan disk.exe. None of these things has solved
the problem. What can I do to fix this?

You don't mention your account type. If you are on an Exchange Server, a
bad connection between the Outlook Client and the Exchange Server could
be causing this. Try with Cached Exchange Mode switched off.

No, I'm not on Exchange Server. Since posting this question, I went into my
Spybot and removed ALL the immunized addresses that were listed. It has
greatly improved Outlook, but am still not sure why. I also wonder if it was
wise to eliminate those addresses as they must pose a danger to my pc if
Spybot identifies them in such a manner.

The explanation is because Outlook consults the Restricted zone numerous
times while performing its functions and if that zone contains a lot of
entries, it's a lot for Outlook to read through each time.

I also wonder if it was wise to eliminate those addresses as they
must pose a danger to my pc if Spybot identifies them in such a
manner.

Don't visit those sites and they can't pose any danger.
