Outlook 2003 Proessing Rules Inbound Mail Slowed to a Crawl

Hello,

Win XP w/Outlook 2003, all updates and patches. 2 GIG ram, lots of HDD space.

Outlook can take 5 to 10 minutes to process by Rule a dozen or so emails
each morning.

I have erased all rules and then rewritten them, removed all add-ins and
tested before adding them back, changed AV software and limited the new to
scanning messages when opened rather than when received, ran Detect and
Repair, reinstalled Office 2003 Pro, archived like mad and cussed and pulled
my few remaining hair.

Always the same result, REALLY slow processing of inbound mail.

All thoughts will be appreciated.

Turn off ALL AV scanning of email - it is unnecessary and can cause just the problem you are seeing, especially if the mail is HTML.
