Slow network performance when copying files to&from a windows server

Hi all,

I have discovered a strange problem. I have a windows server 2003 machine
running on my LAN, and 2 Windows XP machines. I have noticed that the 2
windows XP machines can copy files back and forth to each other many times
faster than either windows XP machine can copy to & from the windows server
2003 machine. The 3 machines are identical hardware. 2.4Ghz P4's. 512MB
DDR RAM. All 3 machines have Intel Pro 1000 MT gigabit NIC's, and are
connected to a D-link Gigabit Ethernet switch via short cat5 cables.

All the hardware should not be an issue. It has got to be a windows server
2003 issue, and I'll explain why. The server can dual boot between Windows
server 2003 and windows XP. When it is booted to XP, it works just as fast
as the other 2 XP machines.

Anybody faced this problem before and know how to correct it?

Thanks for any help,
Nate

Yes I am having the same problem with 10/100mbit network
cards and my 1 Gbit cards when trying to connect and copy
to & from my server (w2k fully updated) the perfomance is
garbage i would expect 50% - 75% of network usage but no
0.018% is the lowest 7% peak this is a recent problem
since december last year not sure what has caused this but
so far i can only think of the recent updates that
microsoft have issued.
