Network traffic causes high cpu usage

T

TT

Hi all.

I have a windows 2000 Sp4 server.
On this machine the network traffic seems to cause an high cpu usage.
This issue seems to be related to an upgrade of the network card from
100 Mbps to 1 Gbps.

Now when there is an high network workload, the "system" process goes
up to 30-40%.

I have the same problem on 2 different servers, and in both it came out
when I installed a Gigabit network adapter.

With a slower network adapter (100 mbps) it does not occur. Besides it
does not occur with Windows 2003 OS.

So it seems that windows 2000 OS has troubles with fast network cards
(gigabit).

Does somebody have the same issue?
How to solve it?

Thanks to everyone.

It is easier to do on 2k3 but that should work for 2k I believe. Export and
save your reg entries first though. ;)
